- MAHOLTINE FIBREBast fibre of good quality obtained from a species of the Abutilon plant in tropical America and India. Used as a substitute for jute. It is also found in Africa extending from West to East. Although the plant belongs to the natural order Malvaceae and is related to the cotton plant, it is specified commercially as jute.
